Oota Dam and Lake Ginzan

Oota Dam is located in Okawachi in Kamikawa Town.
This is a dam for hydroelectric generation by Kansai Denryoku Power Company.






Ikuno was once well-known of their silver mines.
They gave up digging sliver and now the town became a part of Asago City.
Silver mine cave is now a sightseeing spot where you can see doll diplays to show you how to dig out sliver in the cave and buy something of mines.




If you go up to the mountain you will see a beautiful lake in 30 minutes driving.
The lake is called Ginzan-ko, which means the lake of silver mine.
It is a lake of a dam and there you can fish trouts or black bass.
There are many camping sites around the lake and Kurokawa hot spring spa near another lake of Kurokawa Dam.

Flowers in Spring

People outsides of Japan always think of Sakura blossoms if they hear of Spring in Japan
We have more flowers and blossoms besides Sakura, of course, Ume which has been more popular to Japanese than Sakura from the ancient times, and flowers of grass are very cute.
People put flowers not only in their yards but also on roadsides, fields side, banks of rivers, and so on.

Koi-nobori

On the 5th in May is Children's Day in Japan.
We give a payer for our children's growing up well.
We display Koi-nobori ( carp-shaped streamers flown ) on the pole.
In Yachiyo they display Koi-nobori on the line over the field. Those Koi-nobori are old and the former owners donated them to Yachiyo town.

It is very beautiful scenary that many colaorful Koi-nobori are flown in the winds.
